Ali, a widower from Yemen, in Aljaheen settlement, Yemen.
“When the war began and the airstrikes hit I ran away with my family. It was terrifying, and in the chaos one of my sons went missing. Thankfully, the next day one of my neighbours – who had also fled – found him and brought him back to me.” Ali fled the airstrikes with his pregnant wife and children, initially staying with families in the nearby area. However, when the house they were staying in was caught in the middle of ground fighting his wife began to have seizures due to the stress. Despite taking her to a hospital in the capital, Sana’a, Ali’s wife died shortly after giving birth to twins. Ali now lives with his mother and his children in Aljaheen settlement, Amran governorate.
