Viktor receives construction materials to complete repair of his damaged apartment
Viktor (61), electrical engineer, lives in Shchastia town. This conflict took away the most important: his wife’s life and his cosy apartment.
“It happened in January 2015. I and my wife Nadiya were at home, she was sitting near computer, I was laying on the sofa in another room. It was quiet. Everything changed in one moment. The first shell hit our apartment. It completely unroofed our apartment, I remember the fallen ceilings, a lot of dust, it was difficult to see something. I instantly was trying to reach my wife, but it was too late. The ceiling in the room, where she was sitting, fell directly on her and killed her. That day separated my life into before and after”, recollects Viktor.
Currently Viktor is renting an apartment and is repairing his apartment. One NGO gave him construction materials to conduct basic repair of his apartment. Still he could not afford to purchase materials for finishing works. Owing to NRC support, he continued his repair works. He does not involve any other workers to help him.
“My major problem is my soul. Work is a good remedy from sad thoughts", says Viktor.
