Celebrating Nordic Day
On the 17th of February, Nordic Diplomatic Missions hosted the second Nordic Day event, under the theme: the importance of youth in society. The theme is a manifestation of the countries shared value of the importance to include youth in policy dialogue and decision-making.
NRC was invited to participate in the event by setting up a booth, highlighting the core competency activities of the organizations’ works in Myanmar. NRC displayed the youth’s handmade materials, NRC’s programme and protection policy pamphlets, the Camp Management Toolkit (in English and Myanmar Version), ICLA’s one stop service brochures in (Karen and Myanmar languages), a Shelter model, Emergency Kits which are distributed in Emergency Responses in Delta regions, Monthly Newsletter and 10 step ICLA Process Books.
NRC’s Shelter/WaSH Manager, U Myo Myint, represented NRC’s Myanmar Country Programme on behalf of the Senior Management Team at the Open House alongside ICLA Coordinator, Yi Yi Soe, and Media & Communication Officer, Japeen, and dedicated to NRC’s programming/responses.
The Open house was well attended and there were official speeches made by each diplomatic mission followed by local entertainment. NRC Myanmar was very pleased to participate and the information booth set up was busy with many well-wishers as well as people inquiring about NRC’s work in the various humanitarian contexts in the country.
