The Markazi refugee camp is located around three hours drive from Djibouti City, to the North, just outside Obock.
The Markazi refugee camp was set up in 2015, in response to the refugees fleeing conflict in Yemen, especially from the fighting in the south just across the Ban al Mandab strait. At that time, the camp hosted around 3000 refugees, now, there are around 1800 people living here. Some moved to family members elsewhere in the country, some returned to Yemen, while some moved to countries elsewhere.
NRC is present in the camp, most significantly though water and sanitation services.
