Salma (13) is originally from Khanabad District. Her family came to Kunduz city due to increased conflict in their village 1 year ago.
She has 7 brothers and 3 sisters. Her father is working as a police man in the area around the Kunduz airport.
Salma was not going to school in Khanabad, as her father wasn’t able to buy her books and pens. The school was also too far away from their home she said.
Girls were traditionally not going to school in their village. Now it is OK for her to go to school, as the project is supported and in the responsibility of the local community.
Salma can now read and write, and wants to become a teacher for girls that are not able to go to school.
