Nanyan (14) has just received her exam results and was best in class. "I knew the test went very well," she smiles. "I want to become a nurse. That´s why I need to study hard."
"I want teachers who can teach us well, so that we can learn and become good people in the future".
She fled Bentiu in 2016 and has since then lived in a protection of civilians site in Juba.
"Life here is hard because we lack a lot of things, like sufficient water and food. Before, outside here, we had enough. Outside life was very good. We had enough to eat ad I was living in a proper house."
"I want to be able to help my parents in the future".
"I want the country to be in peace, so that we can return back home. I want the country to be okay".
NRC's education projects in the protection of civilians sites in Juba are funded by UNICEF. This photo is from Hope primary school in POC3. The school has more than 3000 students from 1st to 8th grade and is running two shifts a day.
