• Anna, 39, is comforting her 11-year-old daughter at the train station in Przemyśl. They have just safely arrived to Poland after being on the road for three, long days. Anna's husband works in the military and had to stay behind.

"We fled because we felt unsafe. There were rockets and jets flying over us all the time and it is very, very scary to wait for something to explode".

"We were told Poland is already full of refugees, so we will continue onwards to Germany. We have no friends or connections there, and I need advise on how to get there, where to stay and how to get my daughter into school. How do I legalise our documents? I really want to work and not sit at home and be useless. I want to give something back to the society. But, most of all I want to return home. Where my husband is, is my home."
• Irina (34) and Kofi made a long way from Poltava to Poland. She says she struggled with getting Kofi out of the country, since nobody wanted to take such a big dog on a regular train. They had to stay in little passages in between compartments day and night, with freezing temperatures outside. When we meet her, she is waiting for her friends to pick her up on the way to Lithuania, where she hopes to work as an art teacher for children again.
