Rawiah Abu Samour - the mother of Omar Abu Samour who was killed on 30th of March 2018. Omar was a farmer, and he was killed during his work in Khan Yunis in Gaza, in the morning of the first day of the 'Great March of Return'.
“Omar used to work as a farmer. He was not going to fight, he was working in the land and they killed him. They don’t differentiate between humans and non-humans.
He used to harvest parsley and he used to go to work every day from 15hr00 till 22hr00. But the last time he went, he didn’t come back.
He used to earn 30 shekels a day and they barely sufficed purchasing baby diapers and milk, in addition to food and water. He was the breadwinner of his family and we used to help him a bit financially. And now who is going to support his family? I don’t know.
Omar was killed for no reason. I tell the whole world: “Enough with standing still, your silence has killed us, tortured the mothers of the deceased (martyrs).”
May God take revenge against the Israelis. The whole world should stand by and help us, make us feel that we are heard and seen, feel our hearts burning because of those killed for no reason, but nobody feels a thing. Nobody is feeling with the children who became orphans, with the mothers whose hearts got burnt. If they had felt with us, none of this would have happened. They would have stood by us and helped us.
The Israelis are haughty. They don’t differentiate between a farmer and anything else. God is the only one who could deal with them. They fired at my son, a farmer, with a cannon tank. What was he doing? He was working.
It was a shock to receive the news of his death. We didn’t expect that, he was going to his work. Thank God for everything.”
