Displaced people in Bandiagara town, in the Mopti region of Mali, use the shadow cast by one of the walls of the Bandiagara Cultural Center for shade. The Bandiagara Cultural Center has been transformed into a displacement center to receive the large number of displaced people who fled their villages due to intercommunal violence in Mopti region. The cultural center itself is filled to capacity meaning that several displaced people have to sit outside. There is only one latrine for the entire building and the living conditions of this make-shift displacement center are dire. Displaced people claim to be in urgent need of food, soap and household materials.
