Arsal Tented School
NRC started teaching classes at this tented temporary school in Arsal in May. Since then, 80 Syrian refugee children have completed early childhood education programmes and a further 100 have completed Our Basic Literacy and Numeracy Programme.
Arsal, is an isolated town close to the border with Syria, is a hard to reach area where NRC provides education, Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA), shelter and Community Management and Coordination services.
Refugees in Arsal live in extremely basic conditions with limited access to essential services, including education. Temporary schools like this help prepare refugee children to enter Lebanon’s public schools.
However, there are far more children of school are then there are classroom spaces, and NRC is advocating for more spaces to open in time for children to head #BacktoSchool.
