Sidra, 8, from Ghouta near Damascus, looks at her old grade book from her school in Syria in a disused store in which her family now live, in the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon, on July 23, 2014.
The family is awaiting placement in an NRC rehabilitated shelter.
Sidra's mother, Souad, 38, told NRC: “Sidra loved school. When we left she brought her school books and her school bag with her. When we arrived in Lebanon the first thing she asked me was, Mum, when I am going to start school again? I really hope we will be able to send them next year.”
NRC's rehabilitated shelter programme provides refugees with accommodation by funding owners of partially constructed buildings to complete their properties to a minimum liveable standard.
